As a heat wave has gripped Kashmir valley for the past several days, Srinagar recorded the season’s hottest day Thursday settling day temperature at 33.7 degree Celsius.
Deputy Director Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Mukhtar Ahmad told Kashmir Post that Srinagar recorded the hottest day of the season and the same weather conditions would continue to prevail in the Valley.
“We are not seeing any change in the current weather system and are expecting a slight increase in day temperatures over the five to six days,” he said.
In Jammu division, there are chances of light rains between July 5 to 6 that can provide relief from the heat wave, Mukhtar said.
He said that on Friday, the day temperatures would be around 32 degree Celsius but the heat wave would continue till next week.
As per the weatherman, Srinagar had earlier recorded the season’s highest day temperature on June 27 when the mercury touched 32.9 degrees Celsius.
The maximum temperatures in Jammu city settled at 38.6 degree Celsius.
In south Kashmir Kokernag settled at 31.8°C, Pahalgam at 28.6°C and Qazigund at 32.5°C.
Gulmarg in north Kashmir recorded the maximum temperatures of 24.8°C while Kupwara recorded 33.7°C.
