BJP sticks to guns, gets its stand ‘Cleared’ at CSC meet: Police Caderization

The Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday said its stand on the police caderization issue, which had brought it at loggerheads with its ally PDP, was “cleared” during the Cabinet Sub-Committee meeting held on Monday.
Talking to Kashmir Post, state general secretary of BJP Ashok Koul said the cabinet would now take a final call on the matter.

He said the CSC meeting, held under the chairmanship of BJP minister Chandra Prakash Ganga, took place as “quorum was complete.”
“Drabu Sahab had come. The meeting took place as four members were present,” he said.
He said Ganga, Bali Baghat and Lal Singh participated in the meeting.

“BJP’s stand on the issue has been cleared,” he said.
Two PDP ministers, part of the CSC, stayed away from the meeting, sources said. They said PDP ministers Naeem Akther and Choudhary Zulfikar Ali did not turn up in the meeting held in the office chamber of Ganga. “We want to consult party on the issue,” Zulfikar said.
The BJP is opposing the proposal of reserving two IG and four DIG posts for KPS officers.
The proposal had triggered severe differences in the state cabinet on December 9 and even chief minister Mehbooba Mufti had walked out of the meeting after facing opposition from BJP on the proposal.
Following differences, a six-member committee headed by Ganga was constituted to resolve the matter.
The inordinate delay in finalizing the proposal has however “upset” state police officers.
