Pakistan communalising situation in J&K – Dy CM

Amid the beef ban controversy, Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh today accused Pakistan of “communalising” the situation in J&K.

Pakistan communalising situation in J&K - Dy CMFielding media queries after laying a wreath on Martyr’s Memorial at the BSF headquarters here today, Nirmal squarely blamed Pakistan for communalising the situation in J&K.

Reacting to reports of Independent MLA Engineer Rashid getting a solidarity call from Pakistan vis-à-vis beef politics, Singh said: “It is a direct interference in the internal affairs of India. He (Rashid) is being instigated by Pakistan.” “Definitely, Pakistan is communalising the situation in J&K,” he added.

Engineer Rashid had recently given a beef party in Srinagar. Consequently, the lawmaker was allegedly thrashed by BJP legislators in the Assembly.

The Deputy CM also said Pakistan should mend its ways. “On the borders, Pakistani forces regularly violate the ceasefire agreement and try to push terrorists into the state. It keeps engineering trouble in J&K. I seize the occasion to tell Pakistan to mend its ways. India wants peace with its neighbours and Pakistan should also maintain peace. It will be in the interest of both countries,” he said.

On the petrol bomb attack in Udhampur on October 9, the Deputy CM said the state government had strongly condemned it. “We won’t tolerate such activities and such elements will not be spared,” he said. Nirmal, however, refused to comment on the ink attack on Rashid.

Earlier, Nirmal paid tributes to BSF martyrs and honoured their family members at a function to mark the golden jubilee celebrations of the BSF.
