BJP mobilising supporters in Kashmir for PM’s rally

Ram Madhav to arrive in Srinagar on Oct 31 to oversee preparations

BJP mobilising supporters in Kashmir for PM’s rallyTo make its presence felt in the Kashmir valley, the BJP has decided to mobilise a large number of party supporters for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally in Srinagar on November 7. The party has already begun the exercise to ensure the participation of BJP workers from the Valley in the rally.

Highly placed sources in the BJP said national general secretary of the party Ram Madhav, who was instrumental in the formation of the coalition government, is arriving in Srinagar on October 31 to supervise the party’s preparations for the much-publicised rally.

“Ram Madhav will stay in Srinagar for three days to hold interactions with workers from the block to the state level to ensure the maximum participation of the Kashmir-based cadre,” a source said, adding that all BJP ministers had already been directed by the high command to remain in Srinagar for the Prime Minister’s rally.

Although the BJP failed to open its account in Kashmir during the Assembly elections, the party leadership, sources said, had been working assiduously to register an impressive presence in Kashmir for the Prime Minister’s rally.

“After formation of the coalition government in J&K, the Prime Minister is going to address his first political rally in Kashmir. So, the BJP is trying to seize this opportunity to expand its base in the Valley,” a source said, adding that instead of bringing workers from Jammu province, the party will mobilise cadre from the Valley only.

The BJP had claimed that the party had received an overwhelming response in Kashmir during the recently held membership drive and it had enrolled over 50,000 new members. The upcoming rally would test the local leadership’s claims.

Modi will address the first-ever joint political rally of the PDP and the BJP in Srinagar on November 7. The much-awaited economic package is likely to be announced by the Prime Minister.

Sources said Ram Madhav will also get feedback from workers about performance of party ministers in the coalition.
