AIP’s Bold Move: Manifesto Promises to Revoke UAPA, PSA, and Ban Liquor

Srinagar, Sep 07: The jailed parliamentarian, Er Rahshid-led Awami Ittihad Party (AIP) Saturday released its manifesto for the upcoming Assembly elections in J&K. Its tagline, “Jail Free Kashmir.” The manifesto’s front page shows the party’s red and green flag with caged Rashid below it. “No more PSA, no more UAPA” bolded under Rashid.

In addition to vow unconditional release of all the people of J&K languishing in different jails across India, the party promises to revoke draconian laws like the UAPA and the PSA.

The party has stated that once in power, it will implement a complete ban on liquor sales in Kashmir. The AIP has also promised to provide free medical tests in the hospitals across Jammu and Kashmir.

On the occasion, the party further said that it will also work on the restoration of schemes and the autonomy of University of Kashmir (KU), news agency KNO reported. The party also promised free computers to those students who have qualified 8th standard.

It also said that it will safeguard Kashmir students and traders working and studying outside Jammu and Kashmir in different parts of India. Furthermore, while addressing the presser, the party has promised to restore the decades-old practice of Darbar Move, in which administration shifted its offices to Jammu in winters and to Kashmir in Summers.
