All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) on Wednesday asked people to be wary of ‘mischief mongers and agencies who are spreading false rumours’ through some media outlets that some APHC leader led by the Mirwaiz group has reached out to New Delhi asking for “apology.”
On Tuesday, a local news gathering agency Kashmir Dot Com (KDC) had reported that three pro-freedom leaders from Kashmir valley had met top leadership in Delhi for the first time after revocation of the limited-autonomy and bifurcation of the state into two Union territories.
KDC quoting highly placed sources reported that three pro-freedom leaders including a top Hurriyat leader met top political leadership in New Delhi after the August 2019 episode.
Adding that the leaders have tendered unconditional apology for their past activities.
Meanwhile, reacting to the news, Mirwaiz led APHC in a statement issued reiterated its stand regarding the “peaceful and just political resolution of the Kashmir dispute through dialogue as per the aspirations of its people ,and said it stands firm on its stand.”
It further said its chairman has been illegally and arbitrarily detained at home for the past one and a half years by authorities and his basic human rights stand suspended all for advocating people’s aspirations.
Hurriyat Rubbishes Apology Report
A day after a local news channel claimed that three separatist leaders tendered their apology over “anti-national activities” before the top political leaders in New Delhi, All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) led by incarcerated Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Wednesday accused agencies of spreading “false rumours”.
In a statement issued to media here, a Hurriyat spokesperson cautioned people to be wary of mischief mongers and agencies who are spreading false rumours through some media outlets that some Mirwaiz led Hurriyat faction leaders have reached out to New Delhi seeking an apology.
“APHC reiterated its stand regarding the peaceful and just political resolution of the Kashmir dispute through dialogue as per the aspirations of its people, and said it stands firm on its stand,” the Hurriyat spokesperson said.
He further said that the amalgam’s chairman continues to be “illegally and arbitrarily” detained at home for the past one and a half years by authorities and his basic human rights stand suspended for advocating people’s aspirations.
On Tuesday, a local news channel ran a story on its prime time program claiming that three APHC leaders have reached out to the central government seeking apologies for their past activities. The separatist leaders, the report claimed, had also presented a proposal before the Centre for fighting assembly polls in J&K.
