Jammu City gets drenched in festive colours, Governor, First Lady celebrate Holi

Holi — the festival of colours — was celebrated with fervour and gaiety across Jammu onThursday.
Youth drenched in colours were seen celebrating the festival on streets and markets.
Since morning, people were visiting their relatives and friends to extend the festival greetings and exchanging sweets.
The city markets were abuzz as people were buying colour and sweets.
Youths on motorcycles and in cars were seen singing ‘Holi ayi re’ and ‘Holi hai bhai Holi hai, bura na mano Holi hai’. The impact of the instructions of Inspector General of Police, Traffic, Basant Rath to follow traffic rules was, however, visible as groups of youth confined their presence to the inner areas of the city.
“Last year, we rode our vehicles on the national highway to visit many areas and celebrate the festival, but this time we did not want to take a chance as there were clear-cut instructions from the Inspector General of Police, Traffic,” said Mohit Kumar, a resident of the Nai Basti area.
At Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, the festival was celebrated with enthusiasm. The inmates of the girls’ hostel also celebrated the festival by throwing colour on each other.
The festival was also celebrated at Government Medical College and Hospital’s Hostel for Girls in Bakshi Nagar.
