60 C-BYTE-trained youths clear physical, medical tests of Army recruitmentThe Centres for Border Youth Training and Empowerment (C-BYTE), being run under the skill development component of the Border Area Development Programme (BADP) scheme in Jammu, have brought a new ray of hope for border youth for better future.
Nearly 60 boys of border areas, who underwent training at C-BYTE since the inception of the centres on January 1 this year, have cleared physical and medical phases of the Army recruitment being held at Samba since April 2.
Nearly six centres are being run at Arnia, Suchetgarh, Mandal, Marh, Pargwal and Khour by the district administration to train youth for recruitment into armed forces. The selection rate of the youth, belonging to C-BYTE, is nearly 50 per cent.
“Out of the total 129 boys who participated, 81 boys could successfully clear the physical tests but eventually only 60 could get through after the medial and documentation phase,” said Simrandeep Singh, Deputy Commissioner Jammu, who has shown keen interest in the programme.
The Deputy Commissioner said, “Suchetgarh and Khour centres recorded the best success rate of 52 per cent. Centrewise, nine boys of Arnia, 21 boys of Suchetgarh, six boys of Marh, five boys of Pargwal and 10 boys of Khour centre could clear the first hurdle. All these 60 boys will now go through the academic hurdle in the last week of this month.”
He said at least 32 boys of these centres had earlier qualified the physical test of police recruitment and now awaiting their final selection after taking the written test.
“A total of 150 boys underwent training in the first batch, which was held from January 1 to March 31 this year. The second batch is commencing from April 11 wherein enthusiastic response has come from the border youth as nearly 350 boys have been selected for training which will last till July 12,” he said.
The Deputy Commissioner has complimented each instructor and coordinator of these centres for showing outstanding results in the first batch.
