Hurriyat (G) demands release of 10-year-old Downtown boy

Appeals AI, UNICEF to take notice of Ismail’s detention

Hurriyat (G) demands release of 10-year-old Downtown boyTerming the continuous detention of 10-year-old Nowhatta boy Muhammad Ismail Khan and registration of FIRs against him as the “worst face of the tyranny” Hurriyat Conference (G) Friday demanded his immediate release.

Hurriyat (G) appealed the Amnesty International, international child rights organization UNICEF and the other human rights organizations to take strong notice of the detention of minor child and use their influence for his immediate release.

In a statement Hurriyat (G) spokesman Ayaz Akbar said such an example of lodging FIR against the 10-year-old kid is extremely hard to find anywhere in the world. It happens only in Kashmir where the state institutions itself abuse the state constitution and the law, he said.

The civil administration in the state is just for the name and all the powers and authority lies in the hands of police and army.

“No armed personnel is answerable to anybody and nor does the civil administration has powers to restrict their will,” the spokesperson said.

Hurriyat (G) spokesman said that whoever is ruling Jammu & Kashmir the situation remains unchangeable. “There is no letup in the state terrorism in Kashmir. Jammu & Kashmir is actually directly ruled by the Home Ministry of India,” the spokesperson added.
