APHC Chief Mirwaiz Umar Farooq released a documentary titled “Children in Conflict-Torn Kashmir” in Srinagar to highlight the plight of children affected by the Kashmir dispute.
The film depicts the plight of children and highlights the behaviour of Indian Army, police and paramilitary personnel in the Indian Held Kashmir (IHK), KMS reported.
The 20-minute documentary shows both physical and psychological trauma suffered by children in occupied Kashmir.
The documentary is full of emotional scenes and shows a mother, whose two children have died due to the explosion of littered shells and the sister of Sameer Ahmed Rah of Batamaloo area of Srinagar, in tears while recalling her brother’s killing by Indian troops during the mass uprising in 2010. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, addressing on the occasion, castigated the occupation authorities for not allowing the APHC to screen the documentary at a hotel in Srinagar on Wednesday.
He said that the authorities didn’t want the world to know about the actual happenings in occupied Kashmir. “It is not going to stop us. We will be screening the movie in the ongoing session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva next week.
” The APHC chief said that New Delhi must understand the ground realities and should engage in a serious dialogue with Pakistan and Kashmiris for a dignified resolution of the Kashmir dispute. “Military might is no solution. Had this been a way out, Kashmir’s third generation would not have been involved in the conflict,” he said.
Besides media and civil society members, Hurriyet leaders Professor Abdul Ghani Butt, Bilal Ghani Lone and others were present on the occasion.
