Three minors who were arrested by police on charges of ‘carrying’ Pakistani flag and had been lodged in juvenile Home were bailed out by the court on Saturday, however the family members and relatives of these youth staged a protest here alleging that police have directed them to present these minors in police station Zadibal as they are involved in another subversive case.
The protesting family members who assembled in Press Enclave Srinagar told CNS that on 4 December this month, a police party from Pantha Chowk Police Station dragged six youth including three minors from a Taveera near Sempora Pampore and lodged them in police station Pantha Chowk. “Police claimed that these six youth were carrying Pakistani flags which is a blatant lie. If that was the case, then how come police did not touch the Taveera Driver,” they said and identified the arrested youth Malik Mutayib, Tabish Rafiq, Uzair Khandey, Parvez Akhoon, Imran Kakroo and Adil Dar, all resident of saffron town Pampore.
“From past week, these arrested youth were being shifted from police station to police station in Srinagar. Sometimes they were lodged in Khanyar, sometimes at Zadibal, Safakadal, MRG and sometimes in Nowhatta Police Station. The court bailed out three minors Malik Mutayib, Tabish Rafiq, Uzair Khandey on Saturday. Soon after their release from Juvenile Jail, we were informed by police that they need them in another FIR that is lodged against them at Zadibal Police Station. This is harassment and nothing else,” they said.
The protesters mostly females said that the court had bailed out all the six youth but the police did not honour the court order and refused to release the other three youth presently lodged in police station Zadibal.
“We had gone to meet these youth but the police denied us a meeting with them. We were waiting whole day outside Police Station Zadibal but all in vain,” one of the protesters said.
The Counsel for these six youth Advocate Shafqat Hussain told CNS that the Chief Judicial Magistrate Masrat Shaheen has passed directions and sought the reasons from the Station House Officer Zadibal for dishonouring the bail and reasons for asking the families of minors to produce them before him.
When contacted a top police officer said that they received information from Zadibal police station that an FIR stands already registered against these juveniles and accordingly they informed their respective families. (CNS)
