The health department on Thursday sealed eight clinics in Sopore after the later failed to furnish “requisite documents”.
An official said a departmental team headed by chief medical officer Baramulla, Bashir Ahmad Chalkoo and block medical officer Sopore Dr Muhammad Sami raided several health facilities and sealed eight clinics in Sopore town on their failure to furnish requisite documents.
The official said the sealed clinical establishments were unregistered and were being run by untrained persons.
The health department team was accompanied by the police and the officials of drug controller department.
Pertinently, 60 illegal and unregistered clinics were sealed in north Kashmir’s Pattan area last month.
Block medical officer (BMO) of Mendhar Dr Parvaiz Ahmed and naib tehsildar Taraf Hussain Shah sealed four unauthorised dental clinics and three private laboratories in Poonch district.
“The sealed laboratories and dental clinics were violating the medical guidelines and operating without registering with the State Pollution Control Board. These clinics were not following the biomedical wastage norms and hadn’t displayed the rate list for various procedures/tests,” the BMO added.
The clinics that have been sealed are Star Dental Clinic, Advance Dental Health Care, Alshifa Dental Clinic and Star One Dental Clinic while the laboratories are V Care Diagnostic Laboratory, Micron Clinical Laboratory and Public Diagnostic Laboratory. The BMO said the drive against such illegal clinics under his jurisdiction would continue.
