Stranded Travelers, Essential Supplies Delayed: Jammu-Srinagar Highway Remains Shut for Second Consecutive Day

Kashmir Cut Off: Major Roads Remain Impassable Due to Snow and Landslides

Travelers headed to Kashmir Valley face continued disruption as all major access routes remain blocked, a frustrating situation now stretching into its second day [or “since Sunday evening” if the specific timeframe is important].

The critical Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, a vital artery connecting the valley to the rest of the country, remains non-operational due to poor road conditions at Dalwas in the Ramban district. A landslide in this already congested area on Sunday evening further complicated matters, leaving crews scrambling to repair the damaged road surface.

“The road at Dalwas is simply not safe for travel,” a traffic police official stated. “Repairs are currently underway, but we urge everyone to avoid using the highway until it’s officially declared traffic-worthy. Please consult traffic units before attempting any journeys on this route.”

The situation isn’t limited to the Jammu-Srinagar Highway. All other major roads connecting Kashmir to the outside world are currently impassable due to significant snow accumulation. This includes:

  • Mughal Road
  • Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag National Highway
  • Bhaderwah-Chamba Road
  • Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri Road

These closures create a significant logistical challenge, potentially impacting the movement of essential supplies and hindering tourism activities in the region.
