India must think why people in Kashmir observe shutdown on 27th Oct, Radha Kumar

Former interlocutor and a renowned civil society member Prof Radha Kumar Tuesday said that India must think and act over the query why the people of Kashmir observe black day on October 27, the day when Indian Army first time landed in Kashmir in 1947.

India must think why people in Kashmir observe shutdown on 27th Oct, Radha Kumar“Government of India ought to find out why people of Kashmir have been observing October 27 as black day. We have been going in a wrong direction and it is up to us to bring things on the right track,” Radha Kumar told CNS adding that instead of creating a peaceful atmosphere the RSS led BJP leadership has been alienating people of Kashmir by marching in the streets of Jammu.

Responding to a question, Radha Kumar said that in 1947, people welcomed Indian Army but from past 25 years people have been observing this day as Black Day. “It is a million dollar question and Government of India must ponder over it,” she said but added that during her visit to Valley people who met her didn’t raise a finger over the integrity of India.

“I feel it is a Hurriyat sponsored strike and not supported by people. People during my visit to Valley did not utter a word about the withdrawal of Indian Army from Kashmir,” she claimed.

Radha Kumar said that she was surprised to learn that even Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh and Speaker Kavinder Gupta participated in RSS rally in which the participants brandished swords and guns. “By doing so and by taking out such marches you can’t win the heart of Kashmiri people. This is disgusting and Government of India must think over such development. I fail to understand by taking out such marches what messages these people want to pass,” she questioned. (CNS)
