A man in south Kashmir’s Kokernag area was allegedly tortured for three days in police custody in order to force him to sign papers claiming his brother has joined militant ranks. 28-year-old Bashir Ahmad Wani, a former Lashkar-e-Toiba militant, went missing after appearing for hearing in a case at the Anantnag district court on October 1. The day temperature in Kashmir valley registered a decrease on Wednesday as moderate rainfall lashed the city. The city recorded a maximum of 14.5 degree Celsius, a drop of nearly 13 degrees from yesterday. The summer capital had registered a maximum of 27.4 degree Celsius on Tuesday. Authorities “threaten” families of Kashmiri truckers with PSA

The families of two Kashmiri truckers who were attacked in Udhapmur last week, have alleged that district administration threatened them that they would be booked under PSA “if they highlight the issue”. “DC Anantnag and Tehsildar called us last evening that we will be booked under Public Safety Act, if we highlight the issue. Militants hurled grenades at an army bunker in Kupwara district in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday, injuring at least three soldiers. Several vehicles were also damaged in the grenade attack, news agency ANI reported.
