Residents run marathon for clean, green Jammu

The weeklong “Clean Jammu” campaign launched by the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) on September 26 concluded today with a marathon on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. A large number of students and residents participated in the run to create awareness among people to improve sanitation conditions in the city and participate in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Telecom firms fail to provide ‘reliable’ 3G services

The winter capital of the state continues to remain disconnected, as the telecom operators allegedly fail to provide fast internet to the people of Jammu, despite huge claims. Continuing the drive against the use of polythene carry bags, the enforcement staff of the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) visited the areas of Talab Tillo, Akhnoor Road and Bhagwati Nagar. Police rescued 25 bovine animals that were being smuggled to Kashmir from Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir, while the smugglers managed to flee. Two unidentified men were on their way to Kashmir along with 25 bovine animals on foot when a police team intercepted them at Chenani on Jammu-Srinagar national highway last night, a police spokesperson said. A group of mountaineers have successfully completed the first-of-its-kind ‘Himalayan Traverse’ from the higher reaches of Ladakh to upper Kishtwar in the Jammu region.
