Police shower tear and pepper gas shells on mourners in south KashmirPolice fired tear and pepper gas shells on mourners in Batengo village who were gathered to take part in funeral prayers of Zahid Rasool Bhat in south Kashmir’s Islamabad district on Sunday.

Zahid died in a Delhi hospital today after battling for his life for ten days.

He was injured after miscreants attacked the truck he was sleeping in on October 9 along with his two associates.

Zahid and Showkat were injured in the incident. Showkat is undergoing treatment in New Delhi.

As the mourners started assembling in Zahid’s native village, Batengo and started protesting, police swung into action and showered tear smoke and pepper gas on the mourners, reports said.

Eyewitnesses said that police fired at least one tear gas shell into the Zahid’s house.
