Amid shutdown, clashes erupted today in Pulwama town between students and security forces.
Reports said that students of government boys higher secondary school Pulwama today staged protests inside the school demanding release of some students who were detained yesterday. The students later marched towards main town. As they reached near police station, they were stopped by police. In retaliation, the students pelted stones on police who responded with tear gas shelling, witnesses said.

“Five students were detained in Pulwama in last some days,” SSP Pulwama Rayees Bhat said.
The students of degree college Pulwama today boycotted the classes. Govt. boys higher secondary school and girls higher secondary school Shopian remained closed following yesterday’s clashes.
Clashes erupted in Sugan village in Shopian between forces and youth during a search operation.
Following input about presence of militants in the village, forces cordoned off Sugan village this afternoon. As the forces started search operation, youth from different villages assembled and pelted stones on them heavily from many sides.
