Travel trade fraternity has hailed Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti for appointing Farooq A Shah as Secretary Tourism. The tourism fraternity also congratulated Farooq Shah for taking over the reins of tourism in J&K as its Secretary.
In a statement, President TASK Mohammad Ibrahim Siah welcomed Farooq Shah’s posting as Secretary Tourism saying his experience has always helped tourism sector.
“Tourism is a fragile sector which needs to be headed by an experience person. We believe Farooq Sahab is the right man to protect tourism sector and also promote it nationally and internationally,” said Siah.
President Travel Agents Association of Kashmir (TAAK) Manzoor Siddiq said Farooq Shah has always worked for the promotion of tourism and he is known in tourism stakeholders throughout India.
“Farooq Shah sahab has influence over main tourism stakeholders in India. He can promote tourism sector in a better way. Tourism sector in Kashmir is facing many problems which only an experience officer like Farooq Shah can do,” said Manzoor Siddiq.
Chairman Tourist Trade Interest Guild M Akram Siah also hailed Farooq Shah.
“Farooq Shah has vast experience in tourism sector which no other officer has. We are hopeful that under the leadership of Mahbooba Mufti as tourism minister and Farooq Shah as secretary tourism, the tourism sector would receive major fillip. We request Secretary Tourism to organize more road shows not only in India but in foreign countries also,” said Akram Siah.
President Association of Kashmir Tour Operators (AKTO) N A Mir also hailed cabinet decision to appoint Farooq Shah back in tourism sector.
“We needed his experience badly. Farooq Sahab has already done a commendable job to revive tourism. Now he will take this sector to newer heights,” said Mir.
Chairman Houseboat Owners Association G R Siah also congratulated Farooq Shah for being appointed as Secretary Tourism.
