Free Kashmir : JNU Campus Walls Defaced with Separatist Slogans, University Authorities Take Cognizance

An unknown miscreants allegedly defaced the walls on Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) campus in Delhi and painted slogans like “Free Kashmir” and “Bhagwa Jalega” (Bhagwa will burn) on them. The varsity administration has not issued any statement on the matter yet.

Several walls on the JNU campus were defaced with slogans like, “Free Kashmir”, “Bhagwa Jalega”, “Teri Kabra Khudegi” (Your grave will be dug). The incident comes years after ‘Freedom for Kashmir’ poster appeared in the university. The poster with “Freedom for Kashmir! Free Palestine! Right to Self Determination Long Live! DSU” written on it was pasted on the wall allegedly by the Left-leaning Democratic Students Union.

In 2016, a massive controversy had erupted after former JNU students Umar Khalid, Anirban Bhattacharya and others had organised an event against the hanging of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru at the campus. During the event, anti-national slogans were allegedly raised by some students.

Last year, the walls on JNU campus were defaced with anti-Brahmin slogans. The slogans that appeared in the School of International Studies- II building of the varsity read, “Brahmins Leave The Campus”, “There Will Be Blood”, “Brahmin Bharat Chhodo” and “Brahmino-Baniyas, we are coming for you! We will avenge.” The college administration had condemned the incident, saying such incidents will not be tolerated as JNU belongs to all.

No police action has been taken into the matter yet. Source
