Grenade attacks in Tral, Shopian injuring one CRPF jawan, Non-local labourer shot by unknown gunmen in Pulwama

A Central Reserve Police Force ( CRPF) jawan was injured in a grenade attack in Shopian while another grenade missed its target in the Tral area of Pulwama district on Saturday.

“Amit Kumar of 178 Battalion, who handles sniffer dogs of the unit, was injured after terrorists hurled a grenade at their camp in Zainapora area of Shopian,” police said, adding that his condition is stable.

In another grenade attack, no one was injured as it missed the target. “ A grenade was tossed at CRPF camp. It missed the target and nobody was injured,” police added.

A police statement issued here said: “In Shopian, at about 1950hrs terrorists had lobbed a grenade on CRPF camp of 178Bn. In this terror incident, one CRPF personnel has received minor splinter injuries.

Meanwhile, in Awantipora at about 1955hrs terrorists had lobbed a grenade on CRPF camp of 180Bn at Nowdal Tral in which two CRPF personnel received minor splinter injuries.

Police have registered cases regarding the above terror crime incidents. An investigation is in progress and officers continue to work to establish the full circumstances leading to these terror crimes. The respective areas have been cordoned and search in these areas is going on.”

Meanwhile, A non-local labourer was injured after militants fired upon him in the Pulwama district of south Kashmir on Saturday evening, police said. A massive operation was underway to track down the attackers, police added.

“Terrorists fired upon one outside labourer at Arihal Pulwama,” police said. Police identified the injured labourer as Abdul Qasim from Bijnor Uttar Pradesh. “He has been rushed to hospital for treatment.”

Police said that a massive hunt was launched to track down the attackers. The attack came barely two hours after a CRPF jawan was injured in a grenade attack in Shopian.

A police statement issued here said
“In Pulwama, at about 2110hrs terrorists fired upon one non-local carpenter identified as Muhammad Akram son of Ab Salam resident of Bijnor UP at Arihal Pulwama. In this terror crime incident, he has received gunshot injuries. The injured was immediately shifted to SMHS Hospital Srinagar in a Critical Care ambulance with medical staff where he is being treated,”
