Pakistani jets violate Indian air space in Nowshera sector, Flight operations temporarily suspended at Srinagar airport

Pakistani jets violated Indian air space in Jammu and Kashmir’s Nowshera area but were successfully confronted. An official said the jets were immediately pushed back by Indian jets on air patrol.

The jets had entered into Indian air space this morning, the official said. More details are awaited.

Meanwhile, Srinagar, Jammu and Leh airports were Wednesday closed for civilian air traffic shortly after an IAF jet crashed in Budgam district and amid escalation of cross-Line of Control shelling between armies of India and Pakistan.
“The civilian air traffic has been suspended temporarily in view of the emergency,” an official of the Airport Authority of India told PTI.

While the official did not specify the nature of the emergency, it is believed the step was taken in view of an IAF jet crashing in Budgam district this morning.
Jammu and Leh airports have also been closed for civilian traffic.
The flare up in the cross-LoC shelling in early hours of Wednesday has also resulted in security forces and other establishments being put on a heightened alert.

“The flight operations are suspended temporarily as the runway was not available,” Director Srinagar airport, Akash Deep Mathur told Kashmir Post.

Earlier, reports said two pilots were killed after a fighter Jet of Indian Air Force (IAF) has crashed in Garend Kalan area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district today morning.

An Indian Air Force Fighter jet has crashed in central Kashmir’s Budgam distrit on Wednesday morning. Reports said that two pilots are feared dead. Police has rushed to the spot.
