14 JK candidates qualify UPSC-2016 examination

At least 14 candidates from J&K have qualified the Union Public Service Commission-2016 examination whose result was declared on Wednesday.
Dr Bilal Mohiuddin Bhat, a resident Unsoo Waipora in north Kashmir’s Handwara area has bagged the 10th position in the IAS examination. Bhat has earlier qualified the Kashmir Administrative Service examination in 2013 and later qualified the IFS in 2014. He joined as DFO in Forest Department Lucknow and is presently working there.
Meanwhile, Nandini K R has topped the UPSC Civil Services examination. She has a BE in Civil Engineering from MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology, Bangalore. She is followed by Anmol Sher Singh Bedi and G Ronanki who have got the second and third positions, respectively. Bedi has a BE in Computer Science from BITS Pilani. There are seven women and 18 men who have bagged the top 25 positions in the exam.
Meanwhile, Suhail Qasim Mir, a resident of Bijbehara has qualified the IAS exams and secured 125th rank. Mir did his basic schooling in Bijbehara and later completed his graduation from Government Degree College Bemina, Srinagar.
“After that I did my MBA from Jamia Millia Islamia New Delhi and right now I am pursuing my Ph.D from the same University,” Mir said.
The civil service exams were conducted in August 2016 for which 11,35,943 candidates had applied and over four lakh candidates appeared. About 15,452 candidates qualified for the main written exam conducted in December 2016 and of these 2,961 qualified for the Personality Test.
Another resident of Kashmir, Fakhrudin has qualified the civil service exam and secured 86th rank.
Meanwhile, another female candidate from Rambagh Bala, Srinagar, Bisma Qazi has qualified the exam and secured 115th rank.
“It was my second attempt in 2016. Earlier in 2015 I couldn’t qualify my preliminary exams,” she said.
Besides Kashmir, a good number of candidates have qualified the exams from Jammu region as well.
Zaffar Choudhary from Poonch has also made to civil services at 39th rank while another resident of Jammu region, Anayat Choudhary has qualified the IAS exam and secured 808 rank.
Other candidates who qualified the civil service exams include Inab Khaliq who has got 605th rank, Saqib at 472 rank, Sahil Dhingra 917 rank, Amir Bashir and Aditya Bhardwaj.
