Reports said six persons were injured in clashes between protesters and forces in Bijbehara area of Anantnag district. The clashes erupted after forces used teargas and also threw stones to disperse protesters who had hit the streets to resist ‘raids’ and arrest of youth in Jablipora village, they said.

Locals in Parraypora-Jablipora alleged that the forces damaged windowpanes and set stacks of rice on fire while the clashes continued.
Violent clashes also erupted between forces and youth in Goriwan area of Bijbehara this evening.
The clashes were on when this report was filed, but there were no reports of any injuries.

The family of Muslim League district president (Anantnag), Sabzar Ahmad Dar, alleged that forces raided his house in Uran Hall village of Bijbehara and beat up inmates, last night.
“Forces ransacked our property,” said a family member. Sabzar’s younger brother, Asif Hussain has also been arrested by police while Sabzar, who is on the run, is wanted for allegedly organizing protests.
Masked youth on Wednesday morning vandalized cars and motorcycles in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district during shutdown hours.
GK lens-man Kamran Yousuf who was present at the spot said that people ran for safety after many masked youth appeared outside the District Hospital in Pulwama.
The youth carrying long sticks damaged vehicles and motorcycles before fleeing from the scene.
A protest rally was also foiled in Sopore Tehsil of Baramulla district.
Elsewhere in Kashmir, public transport continued to remain off the roads while private cars and two-wheelers plied in good numbers. Shops, business establishments and educational institutions also continued to remain shut while attendance in government offices and banks was very thin, according to reports.
Reports said scores of youth resorted to intense stone-pelting in Srinagar’s Hari Singh High Street on Wednesday evening, and ransacked stocks of street vendors. “The masked youth started pelting stones which damaged scores of vehicles parked on roadsides,” they said. The youth fled from the spot shortly after the arrival of police.
Meanwhile, police said it has arrested four persons, including two active members of a militant organization “which had got money from Pakistan for fueling and sustaining the present unrest” in Sopore area of north Kashmir.
Two of the accused were identified as Gowhar Ahmed Bhat of Mir Sahib Baramulla and Hilal Ahmed Gojri of Syed Karim Baramulla. “They are active members of militant organization Tehreek-i-Jehad-i-Islami (TJI) based in Pakistan,” a police spokesman alleged. “They had visited Pakistan during the ongoing unrest. During their questioning, names of two more persons Showkat Ali Gazi of Sidiq Colony Sopore and Zahoor Ahmed Shagoo of Tawheed Bagh Sopore surfaced.
