At least four persons sustained injuries when forces fired tear smoke canisters and pellets to disperse the protest rally at Damhal Hanjipora in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Wednesday, reports said.
Massive clashes between government forces and protesters Wednesday erupted in Kulgam district after police and Para-military forces stopped people from reaching DH Pora.
Earlier, a large number of people from dozens of areas in district Kulgam assembled and started their march to DH Pora to pay homage to those killed recently at the hands of government forces.
Sources said that as soon as the procession reached near Adeejan, a huge deployment of police and other forces stopped its way by firing tear smoke shells.
Protesters also pelted stones on government forces resulting in massive clashes in the area which were going on till the reports last came in.
Scores of people took out a pro-freedom rally at famous health resort Pahalgam in south Kashmir on Wednesday.
Witnesses said forces intercepted the procession near higher secondary school Pahalgam, and lobbed teargas canisters to disperse the protesters comprising, men, women and children.
Locals alleged that forces late smashed the windows of dozens of hotels in the area.
