Hurriyat criticises Mehbooba Mufti over remark on strike calls

Hurriyat criticises Mehbooba Mufti over remark on strike callsHardline separatists have criticised Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti over her remarks on strike calls, saying that the “shutdowns were a lesser available resistance option”.
“The reason behind the economic crisis is occupation by India which is looting and plundering the natural resources of this land,” a statement released by hardline faction of the Hurriyat Conference said today.
“The shutdowns over which Mehbooba is so fuming and criticising the pro-freedom people are a lesser available resistance option with us. If it would have been in the hands of the Kashmiris, they could have used more strong and more powerful option to press for their freedom demand,” said Hurriyat spokesperson Ayaz Akbar.
Taking a dig at the separatists, Mehbooba on Saturday said their frequent strike calls on one issue or the other was affecting the state’s economy.
“Every day, they call for a strike on one thing or the other. If by God’s mercy, no civilian is killed in retaliation by security forces, they then call strikes on Sainik Colony or Pandit Colony issues. It is affecting our economy,” Mehbooba said while speaking on the concluding day of the Budget session in the Legislative Council here on Saturday.
The Hurriyat spokesman said: “If only the power projects of Kashmir which are under the illegal control of India are returned, the whole state will see a boom in economy. India should fulfill its international commitments and call back its forces from Kashmir to give peace a chance to prosper and flourish in the region.”
The Hurriyat said, “To appease her masters back at Nagpur, she is considering criticising the pro-freedom people a must-do job in her every speech.”
