Geelani rejects Mehbooba’s clarification over Pigeon & Cat remarkRejecting the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti’s clarification to her “Pigeon- Cat” remark, the Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani today said, “Only Delhi and its agents are responsible for the bloodshed and massacres in Kashmir.”

“Ninety nine percent killings in this state have been done by the government armed forces and they continue to kill innocent people on different names and tags. All other unfortunate incidents that happen in Kashmir are due to the prevailing political uncertainty and instability for which the New Delhi and its forced control is directly and solely responsible,” Geelani, said in a statement today.

Giving examples of the bloodshed of 36 Sikhs at Chattisinghpora and murder of five innocent foreign tourists by the Al-faran group, Geelani said, “There are many secret agencies active in Jammu and Kashmir who are involved in secret killings of the innocent people. The facts regarding the killing of Pandit brothers at Wandhama are still a mystery and we have always demanded impartial investigation into all such incidents.”

“The clarification statement of Mehbooba Mufti in Assembly was a nice piece of exchange of words but this way she can neither change the realities on the Kashmir dispute nor can she hide those dangerous policies of RSS which they want to implement in Kashmir,” Geelani said, reiterating his stand against the establishment of Sainik and Pandit colonies in Kashmir.

“The unfortunate migration of the Kashmiri Pandits in 90s was a well thought-out plan of the then Governor and the secret agencies of India. There are still hundreds of Pandit families living in Kashmir who did not leave the Valley and they have never been harmed in these 25 years of turmoil. They live with their Muslim neighbors at their respective native places and at some places there is only a single Pandit family living in Muslim population. We will welcome our Pandit brothers back with open arms and we assure them that they are more than safe here but settling them in separate clusters will definitely harm the age old trust and brotherhood between the two communities. They will get isolated from the society and it will disturb their social fabric,” Geelani said.

Rejecting the theory of Mehbooba Mufti for setting up of Sainik colonies in the Valley, Geelani said, “There is no justification in setting up of Sainik colonies in the Valley even if it is meant for the local retired forces personnel only. The people serving the state in different departments will also demand their separate colonies which will be illogical and unacceptable to the state.”

Condemning the arrest and house detention of resistance leaders, Geelani said, “Police yesterday evening once again detained the Tehreek-e-Hurriyat general secretary Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, the Hurriyat deputy secretary general Haji Ghulam Nabi Sumji, Hurriyat spokesman Ayaz Akbar, chief organizer Altaf Ahmad Shah and Raja Mehraj-ud-din in view of the joint protest program called by the pro-freedom leadership on 3 June, Friday.”
