To launch marketing campaign in Arab Travel Mart
In the event of steep downfall of leisure tourism in Kashmir, travel agents are exploring religious tourism to market Valley’s prime religious sites in the Muslim majority cities in India and abroad,Nasir Shah of CNE Luxury Holidays, Sheikh Ashiq of Asia Pearl Tourism LLC, Dubai and Musadiq Shah of Pride of Kashmir Dubai have started a market campaign of Kashmir’s Sufi sites to Indians living abroad and to Arab nationals of UAE.
“Most of people here are not aware huge Sufi circuits in Kashmir and the spiritual clerics who had mostly come from Central Asia around 14th century onwards. The Muslim majority of India and UAE are eager to visit such places but need to have great excess of its religious and historical material,” said Nasir Shah who is currently in Dubai exploring to tap religious tourism for Kashmir.
The trio is planning to market Kashmir as an exclusive Sufi circuit in UAE during Arab Travel Mart (ATM- Dubai) in April and during MATA in Malaysia / Indonesia.
The tour operators have urged department of Tourism to prepare a comprehensive publicity material with historical and religious details.
They also suggested roping scholars for holding discourses about such places of religious importance. “The market is very ripe and we anticipate to realize Kashmir grow in pilgrim tourism so that the tour operators do not only have to depend on leisure tourism. If we see a prospect of five to six lakh tourists to visit Kashmir initially, this will boost our economy,” said Shah.
The tour operator said they have high hopes on Secretary Tourism Farooq A Shah who dreams of creating Sufi circuit in Kashmir. They also urged Director Tourism Kashmir Mahmood A Shah to extend his department’s complete promotional support in this endeavor.
