Pays tributes to Shams ul Haq, Sofi Akbar
Taking strong notice of the frequent raids by army on the residence of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Tehsil president Shopian Mohammad Amin Ahangar, Chairman All Parties Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Geelani Tuesday said the PDP-BJP coalition government has ‘again given a proactive role to the army which has started harassing the political leaders in Kashmir.’
He said it is a very serious issue because army holds a “very bad track record in this regard in Jammu & Kashmir and they have killed innocent civilians so far.”
In a statement, Hurriyat (G) chairman said the civil administration is silently watching all this situation and the common people are suffering at the hands of the forces. Geelani expressed concern about the safety of the tehsil president and cautioned that if anything untoward happens, it will be the responsibility of the government and the army and will have serious consequences.
Meanwhile paying rich tributes to the leader of Tehreek-e-Islami and a militant commander Shams-ul-Haq on his 23rd anniversary, Geelani said Mir alias Shams-ul-Haq was a God fearing, religious and a visionary personality who dedicated all his life to serve the Islam and the Kashmir movement.
Geelani said the best way of paying tributes to Shams-ul-Haq and all other martyrs of Kashmir is that “we should carry forward their mission and not show any kind of tiredness and weakness on this path.”
Remembering Sofi Mohammad Akbar on his death anniversary, Ali Geelani prayed for peace and best place in heavens for him. He said Sofi Sahab showed courage and firmness in 1975 when he rejected the Indira-Sheikh Accord which was a “sellout of the sacrifices of Kashmiri people.”
