Hurriyat (G) threatens agitation over harming JK’s special statusHurriyat (G) spokesperson said the meeting despite strict restrictions of the police was attended by the heads or the representatives of Democratic Freedom Party, Anjuman Sharie-i-Shia, Jammu Kashmir Employees Movement, National Front, Tehreek-e-Khawateen Kashmir, Muslim Conference, Insaaf Party, Democratic Political Movement, Mass Movement, People’s Political League, People’s League and Tehreek-e-Hurriyat while the representatives of Tehreek-e-Mazahamat, Muslim League, Muslim Democratic League, Kashmir Freedom Front and Islamic Political Party were stopped from attending the meeting.
“Article 35-A and the evil designs of the communal forces were thoroughly discussed in the meeting and a decision regarding the future course of action was also taken after taking into consideration the opinions and suggestions of the members of the executive body,” a rpokesperson said in a statement.
Hurriyat (G) Chairman Syed Ali Geelani in his presidential address condemned the police restrictions on Hurriyat Conference meeting and said the restrictions over the political activities of separatists has been further tightened and now the routine Hurriyat meetings are also being not allowed. “It is practically a martial law in the state which the Mufti Sayeed and BJP coalition government has adopted.”
Referring to the “battle of Ideas” slogan of the Mufti Sayeed, Geelani said ‘India and its agents can’t face us on the political turf.’
“They are taking the help of the army and police to suppress our peaceful and genuine voices and this policy is badly affecting the situation in the state. It will further increase the political uncertainty and instability and alienation among the new generation of Kashmir,” Geelani said.
He cautioned the government that if the restrictions on the peaceful political activities of the separatists continued, Hurriyat Conference will not remain silent and will take steps to highlight the issue.
Commenting over the issue of Article 35-A, Geelani said New Delhi is hell-bent upon harming the disputed nature and special status of the Jammu & Kashmir and for this purpose, they have formulated a plan for changing the demography of the state.
“The links to this plan is the issue of issuing state subjects to the West Pakistan Refugees, creation of Sainik Colonies and settling of non-state subjects in Jammu & Kashmir belonging to different states of India. But we will not allow this thing to happen in any way and at any cost. If any such attempt was made on the ground, people will come on the roads and start a strong agitation in this regard,” Geelani cautioned.
He said the State assembly is not any serious institution and we don’t accept its legal and moral status. “It has become the place of greedy people who only want chair in whatever way. The real issue is the Kashmir dispute and all other issues are its offshoots,” he added.
