Alhamzah seal berth in final of DCLAlhamzah Super Kings  are through to the Final of Khyber Big Downtown Champions League 2015 after Kashmir Royal Stars fell agonisingly short in their first semi final match of this season losing to Kings by five runs in a hard-fought contest at JKCA Ground here on Friday.
Royal were well placed at 103 for 1 in 14th over before Saleem Jehangir (1 for 19) and Safdar Ali (1 for 11) bowled some tidy over’s and left Royal’s needing 15 of the last over. Nayeem tried to pull of the match but Ishfaq sent him back after conceding 8 runs in his first 3 balls.
Set 144 to win, opener Jehangir made a well constructed 48 and together with Rouf Bisati scored 70 runs for 2nd wicket stand. Jehangir hit five boundaries and a maximum in his 45 ball inning while Rouf hit three boundaries in his run a ball innings of 45.
For Kings Ishfaq remained the pick of the bowler with 2 for 28 in his four over’s while Khalid, Jehangir and Safdar took one wicket each.
Earlier a good bowling and fielding display by Royal’s restricted Kings to 143-8 after they won the toss. Vijay Dogra (4-22) was the pick of the Royal bowlers in a good all-round performance.
Opener Safdar Ali played magnificently for his 56 runs. He hit two sixes and five boundaries in his 44 ball inning. Sultan Ansari and Dr Imran also played cameo’s of 15 runs each and helped Alhamzah Super Kings to put 143 for 8 on board in allotted 20 overs.
Safdar Ali for his all-round performance was declared man of the match.
 Strikers beat Spartans in third eliminator
Elegant Strikers are through to the semi finals after thrashing Oddo Spartans by 6 wickets in the 3rd and final eliminator of Khyber Big Downtown Champions League 2015 at Kashmir University ground here on Friday.
Set 139 to win, opener Javaid played handsomely for his 56 runs and together with Hyder Ali  put up a stand of 102 runs for the opening partnership in 12 overs. Javeed Mir scored 56 runs while Hyder Ali made well constructed 43 and helped Strikers to reach the target with 4 over’s to spare.
Earlier Strikers won the toss and put Oddo Spartans in. Showkat 40 and Parvaiz 42 played magnificently before Spartans lose their two wickets on 5. Late heroics from the lower order helped Spartans to put 138 for 6 in allotted 20 overs.
Javeed Mir for his all-round performance was declared man of the match. Elegant Strikers will face Kashmir Royal Stars in the 2nd semi final of this season on 1st November at Kashmir University Ground.
JKSDA felicitates Imran Ansari
J&K Sports Development Association (JKSDA) felicitated Minister for Information Technology, Technical Education and Youth Services and Sports, Imran Raza Ansari with the Tour de Kashmir cycling ceremonial jersey on Friday.
The delegation of association comprising of its President Bashir Ahmad Malik, senior executives Mir Nazir and Adil Rashid Shah met with the Minister and apprised him about the activities carried out by the association. The JKSDA President later handed over ceremonial framed jersey to the Ansari.
The Minister on the occasion said that he is aware about the activities of JKSDA which is a non government funded voluntarily body. He also said that Sports Ministry has issued strict guidelines to monitor the activities of various sports associations who receive monetary grants from the council.
The delegation member, Mir Nazir also invited the Minister for the 5th Asian Sqay Championship scheduled to be held in Iran which he accepted.
Manhas ton powers JK to 331 against Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Captain Mithun Manhas scored his 26th first-class hundred to lead Jammu and Kashmir to a comfortable 331 for 4 against Hyderabad on the opening day of their Ranji Trophy cricket match here today.
Put in to bat, Jammu and Kashmir were at a precarious 29 for 2 after losing their openers in successive overs in the first hour in the Group C match at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium at Uppal.
But Manhas (150), who shifted sides from Delhi to J&K this season, and Ian Dev Singh (83) came together for a 189-run partnership to take their team out of trouble.
Manhas put on another 113 for the fourth wicket with Parvez Rasool (61 batting) after Ian Dev departed in the 60th over.
The J&K captain stretched his knock to 150 off 194 balls, with 21 fours and three sixes, till he fell off what proved to be the last ball of the day. Rasool remained unbeaten on 61 off 97 with 10 fours.
For Hyderabad, Anwar Ahmed took two wickets for 49 runs while Chama Milind and Sudeep Tyagi grabbed a wicket apiece.
