Kashmir’s famed walnut industry is on the Decline

Walnut producers in Kashmir have been hit by the decline in exports, with the lack of mechanisation in the production process leading to low yield and poor crop quality. Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) produces nearly 98% of India’s total walnut produce, with an annual production of around 2.66 lakh metric tonnes on 89,000 hectares.
