Student arrested for attacking policeman

A policeman was today stabbed in his head with a machete by a student with the intention of snatching his rifle at the Wanpoh railway station in Kulgam district. The policeman was hospitalised and is stated to be stable. He has been identified as constable Tinku Khushwaha of the 3rd Battalion of the Railway Protection Special Force. The attacker, Tariq Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Kulgam, was overpowered and arrested by the injured policeman’s colleagues.
