‘You think you’ll get Kashmir by barking in campus’, hackers write on JNU website

The website of JNU’s Central library was on Tuesday hacked with a message displaying ” You are thinking that you will get Kashmir just by barking in the Campus of JNU”. The hacking of the website comes amid a row over an event at the varsity against hanging of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru and in solidarity with “struggle” of Kashmiri migrants, at varsity’s Sabarmati dhaba. NFSA implementation sparks protests, people demand roll back

Terming the National Food Security Act (NFSA) an anti-public law, hundreds of people in various localities Tuesday staged protest, demanding its roll back. Two die in slab collapse

Two cousins were killed when an under-construction slab collapsed in the old city area this afternoon. The police said the labourers, identified as Abdul Majeed Sheikh and Farooq Sheikh, both residents of Housing Colony, Bemina, were at an under construction site in Zaldagar when the slab collapsed around 3 pm. Teams of police, State Disaster Rescue Force (SDRF) and fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation.

The summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, Srinagar has been ranked as one of the dirtiest cities on countrywide survey in terms of cleanliness index. Out of 73 cities, Srinagar has been ranked 48th on the cleanliness index of the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM). The data was released here by Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu. Aamir Ahmad Mir of Ratnipora village in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district is struggling to recover from a grievous injury at the SMHS Hospital here. The 20-year-old has been put on life support system after he received a teargas shell in his abdomen on Sunday. Fresh snowfall occurred in the famous tourist resort of Pahalgam in south Kashmir even as most other places in the Valley remained dry, with the state expected to experience another spell of wet weather from Wednesday.
