The all-round performance of Nisar Shah helped GK-XI thrash SP College Staff-XI in a one sided friendly cricket match played at SP College ground, here on Thursday.
Batting first , GK-XI went on to post big total of 204 runs on board in allotted 20 overs with back to back fifties scored by opener Parvez and Nisar Shah.
In reply SP College-XI were bundled out for 141 runs in 19 overs. GK won the match by 65 runs.
GK team was led by Qazi Manzoor while as SP College-XI was led by its Principal Professor, Muhammad Yaseen Shah. At the toss GK Photo Editor and Team Manager, Habib Naqash was also present.
Batting first, GK started with opening pair of Parvez and Muhammad Rafique. The duo batted sensibly putting up opening stand of 57 runs in seven overs. Rafique was first wicket to fall.
After that Parvez was joined in the middle by Nisar Shah. While Parvez was playing ball on the merit, Nisar hammered bowlers around the park. They put a stand of 100 runs between them. Parvez was second wicket to fall after scoring a brilliant 57 runs that included one six and six boundaries. Meanwhile Nisar continued his assault scoring quick fire 64 runs before getting out. His inning included eight boundaries and two sixes. Shafkat contributed with 18 runs. GK-XI scored 204 runs in allotted 20 overs for the loss of four wickets. For SP College, Javaed Ahmad and Dr Farooq took one wicket each.
Dr Sadiq Majeed, who is Head of Department Biotechnology, retired hurt after getting struck on near eyebrow while trying to stop a shot on his own bowling.
In reply SP-College-XI managed to score only 141 runs in 19 overs for the loss of all wickets. Though Professor Javed and Ajaz tried to fight back for SP College after early jolts, they couldn’t save team from the defeat. Javed and Ajaz scored 23 each. Javed Sir with 16 and Professor with 12 runs were the only notable scorers for them. Rest of the batsman could manage to cross double figure mark. For GK-XI, Nisar Shah and skipper Qazi Manzoor took three wickets each while as Ajaz, took two wickets. Nisar Hafiz and Shafkat chipped in with one wicket each. Bilal Shamis and Khalid Jalal umpires while as Nadeem Akbar was the scorer.
