A group of displaced Kashmiri Pandits today held a protest here, accusing the PDP-BJP coalition government of Jammu and Kashmir of ignoring the plight of the community.
“Though the leaders of PDP and BJP had promised permanent rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandit Migrant community in Kashmir Valley during elections but it seems that the coalition government has totally failed to fulfill its commitment,” said president of the Jagti Tenement Committee Shadi Lal Pandita.
He accused the state government of not taking any steps for the one-time rehabilitation of the community even as they have been living a life in exile for the past 26 years.
The protestors put forth several demands including compensation of Rs 52 lakhs to every migrant family against the damages suffered by them in the past 26 years.
They also demanded employment package for the educated unemployed members of the Kashmiri Pandit community.
The protesters also expressed their anguish over prevailing conditions in Kashmir Valley where Pakistani and ISIS Flags are being displayed repeatedly.
