Despite roping in the district administration and the police, the menace of copying in examination continues in Kashmir, forcing authorities of the School Education department to shift some examination centers.
An official said that the department is expected to order suspension of staff deputed for the exam duty in centers where reports of copying prove to be authentic.
The department, the official said, received complaints of copying at higher secondary school Kelar, a designated exam centre for Class 12 students. Later, the authorities shifted the exam centre to higher secondary school Shopian.
“We got a complaint of copying in this exam centre and we shifted it and also replaced its entire examination staff,” director, school education Kashmir GN Itoo said.
He said that the department has proposed suspension of the staff involved, including the superintendent, invigilator and supervisory staffers.
“The concerned chief education officer has submitted his report and we are waiting for the deputy commissioner’s report,” he said.
Itoo said that they have also shifted two more examination centers.
“We shifted some exam centers designated in a school in Kulgam district and some centers in one of the schools in Anantnag district,” he said.
He however said these centers were relocated due to some “location-related issues.”
The annual Board of School Education examination for classes 12th and 10th commenced from November 1 and November 2 respectively.
On Thursday, students of Class 10th after appearing in their English paper complained that few students were getting “special treatment inside exam centers.”
“We don’t say teachers are helping students in copying but some selected students get special treatment by the examination staff which discourages other students,” a group of students whose exam centre was designated in Kothi Bagh girls higher secondary school here, said.
Meanwhile, the director school education said they will issue strict instructions to examination staff that there should be no partiality in treatment given to students inside exam halls.
“If such things are happening, it will definitely have an impact on other students. They will think that some students are given special treatment which is bad,” he said.
