Jammu simmers with anger against BJP- PDP Govt

Jammu is simmering with anger against the PDP-BJP Government “for its failure to redress various issues being confronted by the people across the division”.
There are fears that situation may snowball into major agitation, ahead of Darbar move to summer capital Srinagar.
To take up the agitation to its logical conclusion, prominent organizations like CCI Jammu Rakesh Gupta, Jammu Bar Association and All Sikh United Front have joined hands with the agitators “to fight for their rights”.
Like Nowshera, Jammu-Samba-Kathua districts are also up in arms on various issues i.e. “settlement of Rohingya Muslims, allegations of demography change by allegedly legalizing tribal population on state land and forest land with active support of government, Asifa’s case where locals alleged innocent were framed and Mehbooba Mufti did not hand over case to CBI”.
These issues have created a clear divide between two major communities of the division on various issues due to which an atmosphere of mistrust has been allegedly generated in some of the districts like Samba and Kathua.
If the government did not act timely to handle the anger among the people, there are chances the situation may turn into law-and-order problem, apprehends President, Jammu Bar Association, senior Advocate BS Salathia, while talking to Kashmir Post.
Salathia told Kashmir Post that the handling of Asifa’s case has created divide between two communities.
“Why the government is shying away from handing over the case of Asifa to CBI? There are chances that after holding discussion with local people in Hiranagar (Kathua) in near future we may approach court with regard to the Asifa’s case,” said Salathia.
He added that “We have suspended our work for today and held protest. On April 3, we have called a meeting of General House to chalk out further course of action to pressurize the government to fulfill the demands and take their protest to the logical conclusions.”
Similarly, Salathia showed concern over the policy of government with regard to tribals.
“Encroacher is encroacher. He has no religion. The government has tried to stop administration and police to stop them to proceed against the encroachers and Jammu Bar will not allow this,” he added.
Like Jammu Bar, Chamber and Commerce of Industries (CCI) has also reached out to Nowshera-Kalakote people and extended their support.
“I had gone there. I am returning back from Nowshera,” said CCI Jammu, President, Rakesh Gupta told Kashmir Post.
He said: “CCI Jammu has given 72 hours ultimatum to government to announce post of ADDC for Nowshera, otherwise Jammu will join agitation.”
Gupta also appealed Kashmir Chamber to join struggle also.
Besides this, Sikh United Front Jammu and Kashmir has announced that they are ready to accommodate, give food and medicines to 1 lakh people in case, they come to Jammu to pressurize the government to accept their demand i.e. ADDC post for Nowshera or district status.
The Sikh leaders threatened the government “to accept their demand or this agitation may turn into something like e Amarnath Land Row”.
