GCW Parade principal removed following Student Protests

Following massive protests at Government College for Women (GCW), Parade Jammu, due to alleged misbehavior of college principal and staff with the students, J&K government has removed the principal and ordered an inquiry into the allegations of students.
“Pending inquiry into the matter, principal Anita Sudan is hereby attached with director colleges with immediate effect,” order issued by higher education department reads.
Geetanjali Andotra, who is under order of transfer to GDC Banihal has been posted as in-charge principal of the college.
DC Jammu Rajiv Rajan told Kashmir Post that a probe has been ordered and a female additional deputy commissioner will head the team.
Earlier, on second consecutive day students of various city colleges took to streets in support of girls of GCW Parade to press for removal of the principal.
Students joined by mainly volunteers of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) marched towards DC office where they staged sit-in.
The protest ended after DC assured that action will be taken if allegation of students were found true.
Hundreds of girls yesterday took to roads accusing the principal of passing ‘unnecessary diktats’ and ‘lewd remarks’ in the name of discipline and dress code.
However, the principal rubbished all allegations and claimed that she had taken several steps like strict adherence to college uniform and timing.
