JMC conducts anti encroachment drive, seizes 8 truckloads of goods

In a joint anti encroachment drive conducted by Jammu Municipal Corporation, Traffic and Executive Police today seized about 8 trucks of material displayed by the shopkeepers in front of their shops and on footpaths causing traffic congestion and free flow of pedestrians. The team also lifted twenty illegal Rehires plying without license.
The drive was conducted to follow the Hon’ble High Court directions regarding encroachment of footpaths by shopkeepers causing obstructions to pedestrians and street vendors causing free flow of traffic and congestion of roads. Anti-encroachment drive was conducted in the areas of Canal road Paloura, Talab tillo, Bohri, Raj Tilak road, Purani Mandi, Old Hospital road, City Chowk, Raghunath Bazar, Gurudwara Sunder Singh road, Gumat, Vinayak Bazar, Jewel Chowk etc
During the drive, the team also warned shopkeepers and vendors to keep their goods within their establishments to avoid Penal action against them and vendors to ply their Rehires/Pharies only in the Rehri Zones and specified areas by JMC.
The general public and civil society welcomed the drive conducted by JMC and appealed authorities that such type of drives should be conducted in near future also.
