Migrant Pandits apprise Governor of problems

The All Migrant Camps Coordination Committee, led by its president, Desh Rattan Pandita, called on Governor NN Vohra at Raj Bhawan here today.
The committee apprised the Governor of the issues confronting the Kashmiri Pandit community and requested removal of all encroachments on the lands belonging to the Kashmiri Pandits in the Valley.
It also demanded release of ex gratia for houses gutted, burnt and damaged in early the 1990s in the Valley, enhancement in the relief amount from Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000 per family, special healing touch policy for Kashmiri Pandits who got overage by sanctioning Rs 50 lakh to start their own businesses, reservation of quota in KAS and IAS and political reservations for all minorities.
The other demands were government job for every family, waiving loans up to 3 lakh and other minorities, early resolution of their cases pending in the civil secretariat and the Relief Organisation, mini secretariat for Kashmiri Pandits instead of the Relief Organisation and creation of a Engineering Wing in the Relief Organisation, Jammu.
The Governor observed that he shall discuss the delegation’s demands with the state government.
