This will be second such conference to be addressed by Mehbooba after she assumed the office of Chief Minister in March this year.

On Thursday, a circular was issued by the Police department to SSPs asking them to attend the conference at SKICC here on November 5.
Official sources said before addressing the SSPs and DDCs, Mehbooba will seek their feedback about the prevailing situation in their concerned districts.
Pertinently, in her first meeting with SSPs and DDCs in April, she directed them to “devise a mechanism” where DCs and SSPs hear public grievances at least two days a week (Tuesday & Thursday) from 2.00 pm to 5.00 pm.

“In many cases, law and order situations arise due to unfulfilled civic demands. If genuine concerns related to basic amenities are addressed, several law-and-order issues will be automatically resolved,” she had observed during the meeting.
Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Kumar Singh will also be present at the November 5 meet, apart from Chief Secretary B R Sharma, Director General of Police K Rajendra Kumar, Principal Secretary (Home), R K Goyal, IG CID, A G Mir, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan and Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir Zone, SJM Gillani.
