Two youths critically injured in Anantnag, Pak flag raised during Motorbike rally in ShopianTwo youths were critically injured in Sangam, Anantnag on Thursday when one of them jumped into river Jhelum for saving himself from being apprehended by police and another was allegedly thrown from the bridge by police.

The two youth, according to local sources were chased by the men in uniform in a private vehicle during which the incident took place.

Soon after the incident locals rescued the duo however found them critically injured. They have been shifted to Srinagar for advanced treatment, sources said. They added that one of the youth was identified as a resident of Yened, Pahalgam.

A motorbike rally was held at Shopian on Thursday during which protesters raised Pakistan flag in the main chowk of the town. Police used tear smoke shells to disperse the protesters who pelted stones on them; sources said.

Dozens of motorbikes with green flags appeared in the south town raising anti-India slogans and reached the main chowk (Gole Chakri), they said.

Police and CRPF men immediately swung into action and fired tear smoke shells to disperse them. However the protesters pelted stones on police and raised a Pakistan flag on Gole Chakri before leaving the spot.
