Power, Water supply snapped at Chanapora, Most parts of Valley face shortage of essentials

Authorities on Saturday cut power and water supply at Chanapora area in uptown here, locals alleged.
They said after a long time they have witnessed unscheduled long power cut in the area. They also complained of non- availability of potable water. “Since morning there is no electricity and taps are also running dry here,” they said.
Pertinently, Chanapora , Bagh-e-Mehtab and other adjoining areas have been witnessing continuous protests for the past eight days.
Apart, people in Kashmir are facing acute shortage of essential items including medicines due to continued curfew since July 9 following the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani and his two associates.
Scores of people complained over phone that they are not being allowed to move out of their homes even to arrange food and medicines.
Sources at various hospitals said that shortage of medicines has been affecting the medical centres.
Over 2,000 people were injured including young boys who have lost their eyesight after being hit by pellets fired by government forces.
More than 40 persons have been killed in last one week at the hands of government forces in the Kashmir valley.
