Mehbooba Mufti took part in Jumat-ul-Vida prayers at Hazratbal shrineJumat-ul-Vida, the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan, was observed with religious fervour across the Kashmir valley today.
The largest Friday prayer gatherings in the city were held at the Jamia Masjid in the old city and the Hazratbal shrine, which houses the holy relic of Prophet Mohammad, on the banks of the Dal Lake.
Despite hot weather conditions, devotees were also seen praying on the streets adjacent to several mosques and shrines at various places. Devotees in large numbers were also seen thronging other mosques and shrines for Friday prayers across the Valley.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti also joined devotees from across the state to offer congregational Friday prayers at the Hazratbal shrine. She offered prayers
in the special women’s section of the dargah.
Education Minister Naeem Akhtar, vice-chairman of the Wakf Board Peer Mohammad Hussain and legislator Anjum Fazili also joined the congregational prayers at the shrine. The CM also interacted with the devotees, an official statement said. She urged them to pray for peace of the state and prosperity of its people.
