Follow guidelines or face action, pvt schools toldThe Department of School Education, Kashmir, (DSEK) has issued fresh instructions to private schools across the Valley to follow guidelines set by the government or face action.
The officials from the DSEK said in order to ensure the smooth functioning of private schools in unison with directions of the government, a meeting was convened by the Joint Director, Elementary Education, with chief education officers of Kashmir.
The officials said it was impressed upon all chief education officers to constitute a committee which could ascertain the validity of registration orders of private schools and recommend closure of all those schools that run unauthorised.
“The Joint Director, Elementary Education, expressed dismay over the delay in inspections by district-level committees,” said an official adding that the chief education officers were directed to expedite the completion of inspections of private schools so that their cases could be disposed of by the directorate at an earliest.
The officials said it had been observed that some private schools had not been following syllabus and books prescribed by the Board of School Education Kashmir (BOSE) in their curriculum resorting to the violation of instructions of the DSEK and creating indiscipline in schools.
“The chief education officers were instructed to ensure that the books and syllabus prescribed by the board was included in the curriculum and taught in the schools,” a senior official said.
The officials have also cautioned private schools for unnecessary fee hike which is often complained by parents.
“There are growing complaints against many private schools for their non-compliance towards fee structure adopted in schools and fleecing parents,” said an official.
“Chief education officers were given instructions to refer such cases to fixation committee so that appropriate fee structure is adopted by private schools in the larger interest of the common man,” he said. The officials said the institutions found violating the guidelines set by the government for their functioning would be taken to task.
