Two years of Modi Sarkaar
In an embarrassing situation for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), its coalition partner in Jammu and Kashmir—PDP Thursday stayed away from the official function organized on the completion of two years of the Government in Centre.
The event was organized by Song and Drama Division of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Kothi bagh on the completion of two years of the BJP led government in New Delhi.
The program was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh as the chief guest besides many BJP leaders and legislatures including Sat Sharma, MLA (West), Jammu, Surinder Ambardar, BJP MLC and Ashok Kaul.
The ministry officials had invited Naeem Akhtar, Minister for Education as Guest of Honour for the event. Other PDP ministers were also in the guest list. However, no PDP legislator or Minister attended the event much to the embarrassment of BJP leaders especially the Deputy CM.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Singh exhorted upon people to take due benefit of Centrally Sponsored Welfare Schemes. He said the NDA Government at Centre and PDP-BJP government in J&K were committed towards the welfare of the common masses.
Highlighting the schemes started by Narendra Modi government, Dr Singh said, “For the first time in India’s history, a government is in place at Centre which is pro-people and pro-poor.”
Spelling out the names of the schemes like Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Swach Bharat Abhiyan, PM Fasal Bima Yojana and others, the Deputy Chief Minister said common people can only take benefit of these schemes when they are made aware. He appreciated S&DD for organizing the programme.
Earlier, ADG (M&C), PIB Srinagar Bharti Vaid gave a brief description about the working of different media units of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, GoI.
She also sought Dr. Singh’s help in strengthening the infrastructure of different media units of the ministry in J&K so that publicity of government policies and programs is carried out in more effective way.
On the occasion, artists of Song and Drama Division performed various theme-based cultural programs to highlight achievements of two-years of Central Government.
