A Kashmiri doctor has been selected among the top five cardiologists from India in the India Live conference held on February 29 at the Taj Palace, New Delhi.Dr Syed Maqbool, intervention cardiologist at Khyber Heart Institute Srinagar, bagged runner up award meant for the best cases of cardiac intervention for which interventional cardiologists from around the globe submit their cases.
“This year, out of 200 cases, first 10 were selected followed finally by 5 cases which were presented at the award session. Around 3000 interventional cardiologists participated in India Live-2016. Live demonstration of cases is used as tool to connect the cardiologists around the world with the latest techniques and procedures,” Dr Maqbool said.
“My case was critical ostial left main disease in patient with acute myocardial infarction in LAD territory. I did primary angioplasty of this young patient with acute heart attack,” Dr Maqbool added. For the achievement, he has been awarded a fellowship at Mount Sinai in US.
