Youth Congress activists take out ‘shav yatra’ of NDA govt, detainedScores of activists of the Youth Congress were today detained by the police after they took out a “shav yatra” (funeral procession) of BJP-led NDA government for its failure on all fronts.
Hundreds of activists, under the leadership of Pradesh Youth Congress (PYC) chief Pranav Shagotra, gathered in front of the Press Club of Jammu as part of the programme announced by the party to lodge protest against the NDA government.
As soon as the Youth Congress activists marched towards Dogra Chowk, they were stopped by the police, who were deployed in a huge number to stop them from taking out procession.
Youth Congress activists, while raising slogans, broke the barricade created by the police in front of the Press Club. When Youth Congress activists reached Dogra Chowk they were again stopped by the police and scores of activists and Pranav Shagotra were detained by the police.
Earlier, addressing the activists, Pranav Shagotra lambasted the BJP-led NDA government for its failure on all fronts.
He said the woes of the common masses were compounding with every passing day due to misdeeds of the NDA government.
He recalled that the NDA government had promised to solve problems of the border residents by providing them shelter at alternative places, but the same promise remained only on papers. He also expressed concern over the increase of ceasefire violation from across the border during the last nearly two years and said the Modi government had failed to deal with the situation in a befitting manner.
Shagotra said every section of the society, be it farmers, students, women and youth, was facing hardship of the wrong policies being propagated by the NDA government, headed by the BJP.
He regretted that in a democratic system, the BJP-led NDA government was trying to gag dissent voice by adopting oppressive means and added that alienation among young generation was increasing with every passing day due to wrong policies of the NDA Government.
