In snub to PDP, RSS says no to pre-conditions for new government

In snub to PDP, RSS says no to pre-conditions for new governmentThe Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh today said any pre-conditions laid out by PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti for forming the government in Jammu and Kashmir would not be acceptable even as it declared that it was a “compulsion” for the PDP to form the government.
Senior RSS leader Indresh Kumar on a visit to Jammu said: “The BJP is an expanding and a flourishing organisation which cannot be dictated to. No pre-conditions at the state or Central level would be admissible for government formation in Jammu and Kashmir.”
The RSS has been monitoring and guiding the BJP in ending the stalemate on government formation which has come about following the refusal of Mehbooba Mufti to take over as Chief Minister after the death of her father Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. She wants confidence-building measures and their completion in a time-bound manner to enable her to take over the reins of the government.
“They (PDP) are under compulsion to form the government. The party has seen its standing in Kashmir after the death of the sitting Chief Minister. Let them raise the outcry as long as they wish. They have no option but to re-enter the alliance (with the BJP),” observed Indresh.
On the BJP aligning with the National Conference to form the government, the RSS leader said: “Jo bhi aayega, apni majboori ke liye aayege (whosoever comes will come because of compulsions).”
To a query on the possibility of fresh elections and the BJP’s acceptability in the region, Indresh reserved his comment. “It’s very premature to talk about the issue. Let the first phase (government formation in Jammu and Kashmir) reach its conclusion. The other phase can be discussed later,” he said.
